One of the key sources of joy in my life is food. Cooking helps me relax, it is an expression of love, and there is nothing like a home-cooked meal that can bring a family together. Food, to me, is the simplest way to “enrich” your life.
While I primarily write about what I am cooking/baking, there are other things that might interest you in this blog. Check out the “lifestyle” tab. I don’t claim to be a “lifestyle” expert, we have plenty of those on social media already! The lifestyle category helps me curate everything from the simplest night at home to a sensational broadway show. It is a good way for me to reflect on all that is wonderful in life; it helps me pause and be thankful.
I started this blog in 2012, a year after I started grad school. During that first year, I noticed that I was stressed, overwhelmed, and too tired to leave the lab and cook for myself. My meals were coming out vending machines and the frozen section in the grocery store. Needless to stay, it was adversely affecting my metabolism and energy levels. Slowly, I started cooking again. I started baking cakes for my co-workers’ birthdays. I was happier and healthier. But that was not enough, grad school can be all-consuming, and it was very easy for me to slip back into bad habits. It was a need to hold myself accountable that gave birth to this blog.
I took a break for a while; life got crazy, I graduated with my Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, moved, got married, and started a new job. Now, eight years later, I am stuck at home due to the SARS-CoV2 pandemic and have taken advantage of this isolation to rediscover my love of cooking and baking. If you have been following this blog since the beginning, I hope you enjoy some of the new and improved recipes and pictures (yup! I am working on my photography game!).
